Middle School students chosen for the MS Choir will need to arrive on concert day with original music to be used during rehearsals. Music MUST be memorized.

This choir is designed for students in grades 6 and 7 but if you have 5th grade students participating in your choir, they may audition as well. 7th Graders may audition for this choir as well as the JH choir but must pay audition fee for both.

Auditions for the MS choir will be done via recordings. You will submit a recording for each student that will include them singing their correct part for Carry the Light and Hold On as well as the CORRECT voicing of Jubilate Deo (same as children's all-state). The audition must be submitted using the appropriate voicing of these recordings: click here

Each student chosen for the EDHC MS Choir will be charged a $15 participation fee. You will receive an invoice for these fees. These fees will be due Nov 1. Any fees not paid by Nov. 1 will incur a late fee.

JoAnn Hollquist
Mrs. Hallquist is a native of Tulsa, graduate of University of Tulsa and a 26 year veteran of teaching. She is a member of the Singing Chuchwomen of Oklahoma and the Director and co- founder of the Owasso Community Choir. She loves teaching middle school choir because that moment when a student falls in love with music gives her great joy. In her 26 years of teaching she has been teacher of the year for her building, has grown choir programs for three districts including BA, and has seen choirs achieve Superior ratings in District Contest and on the show choir stage. She is recognized as one of the leading choir teachers for the Northeastern Part of Oklahoma. Outside of teaching, she loves to spend time with her new husband, Scot, travel and spend time with her grandchildren and her golden retriever Sampson.

Andrea Denison
Andrea Denison, Accompanist: Andrea Denison is currently in her twenty-second year of teaching music. She has been teaching 9-12 vocal music for the last fifteen years at Fort Gibson Public Schools. Prior to teaching choir at Fort Gibson, she taught band in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and choir and band in St. Joseph, Missouri.
In addition to teaching vocal music, Andrea spends time playing piano and conducting the orchestra for Fort Gibson’s all-school musical as well as playing for Eastern District Honor Choir and other area musicals as her time permits. A graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, she holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education, Instrumental and Vocal, and a Master of Arts in Church Music from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, with an emphasis in piano. She attends First Baptist Church, Muskogee, and is on staff as the music director for the adult, handbell, and children’s choirs.
Andrea has been married for seventeen years to Dallas Denison and they have two beautiful children, Jackson and Abigail. She loves to spend her free time traveling, learning new languages, participating in various ministries at her church, and spending time with her family.
